New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has made Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko his number one summer transfer target and is prepared to drop his interest in Edinson Cavani in order to land him, according to the Daily Star.

The Portuguese boss returned to Chelsea earlier in the week for a second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge and it seems he’s wasted no time in identifying his transfer targets with the report claiming the 50-year-old has made Dzeko his top priority as he looks for a tall, powerful target man to lead the line next season.

The Bosnian finished as City’s top Premier League goal-scorer last season with 14 goals despite being largely used as a substitute and has netted a total of 30 League goals in 76 appearances since making the move from Wolfsburg in January 2011.

The Star claim City are prepared to sell the 27-year-old this summer for around £20m but the main obstacle for Chelsea is the fact they don’t want to sell to a domestic rival, preferring to send him back to Germany.

However, the newspaper suggests Mourinho is prepared to drop his interest in Edinson Cavani to give the Eastlanders a clear run at the Napoli striker if the Manchester club agree to allow Dzeko to move to west London.
