Transfer News: Chelsea Linked With £35m Brazilian – Liverpool Dealt Llori Blow
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with a £35m move for Brazilian striker Hulk while Liverpool may miss out on Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with a move for Hulk while Liverpool may miss out on Tiago Ilori.
Jose eyes £35m Hulk
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to £35m-rated Brazilian hitman Hulk after missing out on number one target Radamel Falcao.
The report claims the Blues were close to landing the powerful forward last summer but refused to meet Porto’s asking price, and he eventually made a £50m move to Zenit St Petersburg. However, his time in Russia hasn’t gone according to plan after he was booed by his own fans and fell out with coach Luciano Spalletti during a difficult first season.
The Mirror claim Zenit are now ready to cut their loses and cash in on the 26-year-old this summer and Mourinho is ready to launch a £35m move after not only missing out on Falcao but is also facing stiff competition from Manchester City for Edinson Cavani.
Hulk is a versatile forward who can play anywhere across the front line as well as through the middle on his own so would provide Chelsea with plenty of options if he does end up making the move to Stamford Bridge.
Reds dealt Llori blow
Next and the Mirror again who are reporting that Liverpool could be set to miss out on defender Thiago Llori with Valencia set to make their move after the Reds saw a £3.5m bid rejected by Sporting Lisbon.
The newspaper claims Brendan Rodgers was confident of landing the 20-year-old centre-back but saw his opening offer knocked back after Valencia made a late move to hijack the deal and the Spaniard’s are now understood to be lining up talks with the player next week.
Llori has emerged as one of the hottest young defenders around after coming through the same Sporting academy that produced names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Nani. Born in Britain, the youngster has a Portuguese mother and British father, and seemed set for a move back to England until Valencia made their move.
However, the Mirror suggest there could yet be hope for Liverpool as they may still hold the upper hand with Rodgers prepared to offer the player regular first team football – something the La Liga club are yet to promise.
