Wilshere Injury Update: Positive News Following Latest Surgery
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has successfully undergone surgery on his troublesome ankle and is in line to return to pre-season training on July 4th.
Some excellent news tonight Gooners with the Mirror reporting that midfielder Jack Wilshere has successfully undergone surgery on his troublesome ankle and is ready to return to pre-season training on July 4th.
The 21-year-old has seen his last two seasons hampered by a series of ankle problems. Just as it looked like he was getting back to full fitness, it was revealed last March that screws in his right ankle from a previous operation were causing him pain and he was forced to practically sit out the last 2 months of the campaign, only coming on as a substitute when required.
Wilshere underwent minor surgery a couple of weeks ago to replace the screws with the hope of finally curing the issues and the Mirror claim that procedure was a success and the midfielder is now in line to return to pre-season training with the rest of the Arsenal squad on July 4th.
The newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger will take Wilshere on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia so he will get a full pre-season under his belt and be ready for the start of the new Premier League season in August as well as our potentially tricky two-legged play-off to reach the group stages of the Champions League.
If true, this is excellent news and hopefully Jack can now put his injury concerns behind him. He’s been extremely unlucky with the ankle problems he’s suffered in recent years and his development has suffered as a result. But with any luck, replacing the screws will solve the problem once and for all and Wilshere can get back to what he does best; playing football.
Now all we need to do is sign a few world class players to play alongside him and we might just end that much talked about trophy drought!
