Chelsea and Manchester United have been dealt a blow after Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed that striker Robert Lewandowksi wont be sold this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Lewandowski has emerged as one of of the most sought-after striker’s in Europe after scoring 75 goals in 139 games for Dortmund since joining from Lech Poznan in 2010, and he hit a stunning four-goal salvo against Real Madrid in the semi-final’s of the Champions League last season to further enhance his reputation.

With just 12 months left to run on his current contract and no sign of him committing to an extension, speculation has mounted that the Polish hitman could be on the move this summer. The Mail claim Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest.

However, it seems that any interested party will have to wait until next summer to land the powerful striker with Dortmund’s general manager insisting he will remain with the club next season:

‘Robert will definitely be playing for Borussia Dortmund next season,’

‘We need this security to be able to plan (for the season).’ Watzke is quoted as saying by the Mail

The newspaper suggests that Lewandowski is prepared to snub interest from the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Real Madrid to seal his ‘dream’ move to Bayern Munich but with Dortmund understood to be unwilling to do business with their domestic rivals, the striker will now have to see out the final year of his contract if he’s to make the switch to the Allianz Arena.
