Transfer News: Spurs Linked With 32-Goal Striker | Chelsea’s £7.7m Bid Rejected?

Latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with a £17m move for striker Burak Yilmaz and was it Chelsea that put in a bid for Geoffrey Kondogbia?

With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Spurs are linked with a £17m move for Burak Yilmaz and was it Chelsea that put in a bid for Geoffrey Kondogbia?

Spurs target Yilmaz

First up and the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham are prepared to pay £17m to sign Turkish hitman Burak Yilmaz this summer.

The 27-year-old has emerged as a prime target in Europe after a stunning season with Trabzonspor in 2012, where he scored 33 goals in just 34 games. He made the move to Galatasaray last summer and continued his sensational form in front of goal, scoring 32 goals in 39 appearances, including 8 in last seasons Champions League.

His form appears to have caught the eye of Andre Villas-Boas with the Spurs boss apparently willing to spend £17m to bring him to England this summer as he looks to re-shape his strike-force ahead of next season. However, the Mirror suggest the north Londoners could face stiff competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina, with the duo also understood to be keen on the powerful striker.

Blues bid for Kondogbia?

Next up and the the Mirror again are reporting that Sevilla have rejected a verbal bid of £7.7m for highly-rated starlet  Geoffrey Kondogbia – who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer.

The report claims new Blues boss Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the France Under-20 international after watching him impress in Spain last season, and now it’s believed the Portuguese coach wants to take him to Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has revealed that the La Liga outfit have turned down a bid – which the Mirror claim was for £7.7m – from an un-named club, stressing he wants Kondogbia to continue his development at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

“The bid wasn’t sufficient,”

“The idea is that he continues growing here at Seville, just like he did last season.” del Nido is quoted as saying by the Mirror

Any potential transfer is likely to be complicated by ownership issues with a third party owning 50% of the players rights, and del Nido confirmed that there’s a clause in Kondogbia’s contract that states Sevilla must take action if a written bid over 6 million euros comes in.

“There exists an obligation that if a formal, written offer of over six million Euros arrives then we must accept it and sell him, or match it and keep half of his economic rights,”

“But they haven’t done it in writing, which they must do.” added del Nido.

So was the bid from Chelsea? Well the Blues have been heavily linked with the player and current defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel has been linked with a move to Galatasaray, so you’d be forgiven for thinking they could be the mystery club in question. The Mirror were certainly suggesting they were. However, contrasting reports have claimed the bid was in fact from Man Utd, so it’s difficult to know what to believe. With nothing official announced it’s all speculation at this point.
