Reports in Italy are claiming that Chelsea have agreed terms with striker Edinson Cavani over a potential move to Stamfird Bridge but the Blues are yet to strike a deal with Napoli, according to the Mirror.

The Uruguayan hitman has become one of the world’s hottest properties after another excellent season in Serie A that saw him score 38 goals in just 43 games. This form has lead to speculation over his future and a move to the Premier League has been touted as a possibility, with the Mirror suggesting Chelsea and Man City are keen on bringing the 26-year-old to England.

It appears Chelsea have taken a huge step towards luring the striker to Stamford Bridge with the newspaper claiming the Blues have now agreed personal terms with Cavani and all that’s required is to strike an agreement with Napoli over a transfer fee.

Chelsea have so far refused to meet the strikers €63million (£54m) buy-out clause and the report understands that the Italians are determined not to sell their prized asset for anything less, with president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisting Manchester City are the only club to make a formal offer so far – but again they have refused to match his release fee.

The Mirror understand that Cavani wants to hold talks with De Laurentiis to discuss his future but the president believes that unless his clause is activated there is nothing to talk about, putting the ball firmly in Chelsea and Man City’s court.

If these reports are accurate though and Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with the player, I’m sure De Laurentiis may have something to say about that as there is no agreement between the two clubs.
