With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are set to offload two more flops with Levante keen on Marouane Chamakh and Marseille in talks over Gervinho.

Chamakh off to La Liga?

First up and the Daily Mail are reporting that Spanish outfit Levante are interested in signing Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh this summer and have offered to stump up around £1m for his services.

After joining the club from Bordeaux on a free transfer in 2010, Chamakh enjoyed an encouraging opening 4 months, scoring 10 goals before the turn of the year. However, he soon fell out-of-favour and has struggled to establish himself at the Emirates in recent seasons.

He was sent out on loan to West Ham last year but failed to make an impact and if the Mail’s report is accurate, I’d bit Levante’s hand off if they offered £1m for the Moroccan ‘striker’. A major stumbling block could be the 29-year-old’s wages, as Levante may struggle to match the reported £65,000-a-week he’s currently on, but hopefully he’ll take a pay-cut in order to get some football under his belt.

Marseille eye Gervinho

Next and the Express claim Marseille have opened talks over the potential signing of Gervinho with the French outfit keen on luring him back to Ligue 1 this summer.

The Ivory Coast international has struggled to make an impact at Arsenal since his move from Lille in 2011 – scoring just 11 goals in 63 appearances – and it seems we’d be prepared to take a loss on the £11m we splashed out two years ago.

The Express claim the 26-year-old has attracted interest from Turkish side Fenerbache but it seems Marseille have made the first move with the French club believed to have opened preliminary talks about the players availability.

Gerivnho has got to be one of the most frustrating players to watch. One minute he can look like a world beater, only to ruin it with a poor final ball or finish. I think it”s clear he isn’t going to make it at Arsenal and a move back to France could suit all parties.

Let’s  hope we can get  both Chamakh and Gervinho off the books shortly. Then we can concentrate on bringing in the players we need to turn us into trophy challengers again next season.
