Chelsea Have Offer Rejected For Highly-Rated Midfielder

Chelsea have seen their opening offer for youngster Isaiah Brown rejected by West Bromwich Albion, according to the Baggies technical director Richard Garlick.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea have an offer turned down for Isaiah Brown.

Chelsea have seen their opening offer for highly-rated youngster Isaiah Brown rejected by West Bromwich Albion, according to the Baggies technical director Richard Garlick.

The 16-year-old midfielder has emerged as one of the hottest young talents in England after starring for the Baggies youth team last season, and he made his senior debut for the club as a substitute against Wigan Athletic in May – becoming the second-youngest player to appear in the Premiership.

The report claims his impressive form has lead to interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with Chelsea believed to be among the clubs keen to lure him away from the Hawthorns this summer.

It seems the Blues have turned that interest into an official offer but Garlick has described the Europa League winners bid as ‘disappointing’ and claims that WBA are willing to let a tribunal decide how much compensation should be paid.

He told Sky Sports News:

“We are disappointed by Chelsea’s offer.

“We have invested a lot of time and money in Isaiah’s development as a player and – as one of our most exciting Academy products in recent years – we had hoped to bring him through into our first team.

“But Chelsea have forced our hands and we are more than prepared for the matter to be decided by a tribunal if needs be.

“More importantly, it makes you question why these young players are joining bigger clubs when then they are likely to gain more first-team opportunities in the Barclays Premier League at clubs similar to us.”

Brown has been with Albion’s youth academy for three years and as well as breaking into the first team set up, he’s also represented England at U16 and U17 level, so you can understand why the club want to be well compensated for producing such an exciting talent.

The starlet is under 17 so can’t sign a professional contract and is free to move to another club, but it seems if Chelsea want to sign him and aren’t prepared to up their opening offer, the case will be put forward to a tribunal where an independent panel will decide how much the Baggies should receive for training the youngster.
