Arsenal Dismiss Reports Claiming Santi Cazorla Has Agreed Terms With Atletico Madrid

Arsenal have dismissed reports claiming they are in talks over the sale of Santi Cazorla after the midfielder supposedly agreed terms to join Atletico Madrid.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal deny Santi Cazorla move reports.

Arsenal have dismissed reports claiming they are in talks over the sale of Santi Cazorla after the midfielder had supposedly agreed terms to join Atletico Madrid, according to the Mirror.

Spanish newspaper Marca and radio stations Onda Cero and Radio Marca all reported on Wednesday morning that Cazorla was on the verge of moving back to La Liga after agreeing personal terms with Atletico Madrid.

The Daily Mail then claimed we’ve been holding talks with Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil, who is understood to be in London, with the Spaniard’s thought to have tabled an ambitious £17.5m offer.

However, according to journalist John Cross at the Mirror, Arsenal have informed him that these reports have no substance and the club has no interest in selling Cazorla this summer.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has also denied the reports, saying:

” The news on Cazorla are inventions that are happening daily.” Cerezo is quoted as saying by Marca.

Arsene Wenger made a big point early on this summer that none of his star players would be sold over the coming weeks and stressed how he was looking forward to having a more settled squad as a result, so these reports were always going to be wide of the mark.

Cazorla had a superb debut season after his move from Malaga last summer and he was never going to be sold so soon. However, it’s good that the rumours been put to bed quickly and we can now concentrate on adding to the squad before the window closes.

It’s very in order that my Club rubbish such rumour and expensive joke well on time. So far so good I’m enjoying the Premiership and loving it. We need not sell any of our star player, but rather add to it. The boss needs to look in this direction and see how we dust our trophy carbinet this season by adding silverware. It’s about time for now next season. So relax all Gunners, forget this rumour of the century and let’s focus on the pre-season 7 goal thrillers…

I believe the situation 100%, the clubs are obviously negotiating, the papers said so – mind you I do believe someone should tell the Athletico officials that being in London is pointless seeing that Wenger and Gazidis are in Vietnam!

I think as an arsenal fan our manager should consider returning Alex Song instead of going for more strikers as in my opinion the ones we have are enough to make us shine if the midfield is strong.
