Tottenham Dealt Double Transfer Blow

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a double transfer blow with the news that both Leandro Damiao and Miralem Pianic are set to stay at their respective clubs.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham receive a double transfer blow.

Leandro Damiao

Tottenham have been dealt a double transfer blow with the news that both Leandro Damiao and Miralem Pianic are set to stay at their respective clubs, according to the Express.

The report claims Spurs had hoped to finally bring long-term target Damiao to White Hart Lane this summer as boss Andre Villas-Boas looks to add to his strike-force. However, Internacional have revealed they wont be selling their hitman this summer with president Luis Cesar Souto de Moura insisting he’ll be staying until after next summers World Cup, even if they receive a large bid.

“If Al-Rayyan can keep Nilmar, we can keep Leandro Damiao, even if there is a big offer.

“It’s silly to sell Leandro Damiao this year, he has the chance to play the World Cup and improve at a personal and professional level.

“We are confident and we understand that he can wait another year, play the World Cup, increase his value with the national team and then be transferred and have other opportunities.” he’s quoted as saying by the Express.

Spurs have also suffered a blow in their pursuit of midfielder Pjanic who has declared he wants to stay at Roma. The Express claim Villas-Boas has been eyeing the 23-year-old this summer but speaking to Roma’s official website, he insisted he has no intention of leaving the Italian capital and is in talks about extending his contract.

“I don’t want to leave. Everyone at the club knows that.

“I’ve always wanted to stay here. I want to give everything to start the season well.

“I don’t know about the financial situation at the club. A new contract? It doesn’t happen overnight. We’re talking about it.

“The desire is there and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

So with Damiao and Pjanic unavailable, it looks like AVB will have to move on to other targets if he wants to add to his midfield of attacking options this summer. There is still plenty of time left for business to be done, and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest gossip.
