Fabregas Tells Friends He’s Only Interested In Arsenal Move
Cesc Fabregas has told friends he’s only interested in re-joining Arsenal if he leaves Barcelona but Man Utd remain confident they can lure him to Old Trafford.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Cesc Fabregas is only interested in joining Arsenal.
Cesc Fabregas has told friends he’s only interested in re-joining Arsenal if he leaves Barcelona but Man Utd remain confident they can lure him to Old Trafford, according to the Mirror.
The former Gunners skipper has been strongly linked with a return to England in recent weeks with Manchester United making their interest known with an offer last week while Arsenal are understood to be keeping tabs on the situation.
The Mirror claims Fabregas wants to remain at Barcelona but his attitude would change should the club accept a bid for him as it would be a clear sign he’s not valued at the Nou Camp, and he’s believed to have informed friends that the only club he’d leave for is Arsenal.
As has been widely reported, Arsenal have a buy-back option on the Spanish midfielder and Barca will have to inform them if any bid comes in for the player, but the report suggests that United are growing increasingly confident they can lure him to Old Trafford.
Where that confidence stems from remains unclear, particularly if the Mirror’s report is accurate and Fabregas has told friends he’s only interested in Arsenal.
The champions made an opening £26m bid last week and are prepared to go higher with David Moyes determined to add to his midfield options this summer. He told reporters on Friday:
“Signing a midfield player was one area where we thought we could possibly add to the squad.
“It’s hard to get top quality players who can come in and affect your team. That’s why we’re trying to go for what we see as the right players and the best players.
“If you’re a player and you’re brought up to play football, and you look out of the window and see Old Trafford, if you’ve got any ambitions about being a footballer, and you’re a top end one, then I think you’ll want to play for Manchester United.” Moyes is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
This is shaping up to be an intriguing saga with United seemingly intent in pursuing Fabregas’s signature even though the odds appear heavily stacked against them. The ball looks like it’s very-much in Barcelona’s court. If they reject all offers, Fabregas will stay, but if they make it clear he’s available they might just push the player out the door with two clubs in the Premier League waiting with open arms.
