Fabregas ‘Considering Future’ After Barca Fail To Give Assurances Over Playing Time

Arsenal and Man Utd target Cesc Fabregas is considering his future after Barca failed to give him the assurances he wanted regarding more playing time next year

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Manchester United and Arsenal target Cesc Fabregas is considering his future after Barcelona failed to give him the assurances he wanted regarding more regular playing time next season, according to Sky Sports News.

The Spanish midfielder moved back to the Nou Camp from Arsenal in 2011 after eight years at the Emirates but his time back in Spain hasn’t quite gone according to plan as he’s struggled to establish himself as an important first team player and has regularly been used in unfamiliar positions when he does start.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a sensational return to England this summer with both Arsenal and Manchester United understood to be interested in luring him back to the Premier League.

United had a £30m bid rejected by Barcelona last week and the La Liga champions are reported to have written to the club stating Fabrgeas was not for sale this summer.

However, Sky Sports claim that sources close to Fabregas have told them the player is now considering his future after he was given no assurances that he will be a regular starter next season. The source also indicated to the news channel that Barca might consider selling the midfielder should an offer of £35m come in, despite their public insistence that he wasn’t for sale, but they’d ultimately leave the decision in the hands of the player.

While Sky Sports ‘sources’ are never 100% accurate, it’s certainly an interesting twist to this saga. United fans will now be feeling confident they could lure Fabregas to Old Trafford but Arsenal’s position in this shouldn’t underestimated.

Fabregas has a strong affiliation with the club and Arsene Wenger confirmed last week they had a first refusal buy-back clause, so if the Gunners decide to exercise that clause and Fabregas fancies a return to the Emirates, United would end up missing out on another top summer target.
