Manchester United boss David Moyes gave the clubs official website an injury update with the latest news on Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Nani, Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck.

The champions slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Yokohama F.Marinos on Monday and striker Van Persie was forced off at half time with a thigh strain prompting fears he could have picked up an injury that would keep him out of action for up to 4 weeks – which would see him miss the start of the new season.

However, Moyes has moved to play down those suggestions insisting RVP’s withdrawal was precautionary and the 29-year-old is in line to take part in Friday’s friendly with Cerezo Osaka along with strike partner Welbeck.

Midfielder Carrick missed Monday’s clash with a tight groin and while he’s expected to miss tomorrow’s game as well, Moyes claims he should be back in training over the weekend.

The likes of Nani, Valencia and Vidic were all left back in Manchester due to various niggles and the United manager also revealed that the trio all stepped up their recovery’s by taking part in a practice match at Carrington earlier in the week.

“There was a practice match at Carrington the other day, Vida, Nani and Valencia all had playing time in that. Wayne is also running and at the level we thought he’d be at. He’ll step that up this week.

“Robin was a precaution the other night. I expect he and (Danny) Welbeck to both play tomorrow. (Michael) Carrick had a tight groin and is doing better. He probably won’t feature tomorrow but should resume training over the weekend.” Moyes told ManUtd.com

So positive injury news all round for United and it looks like they will have a healthy squad heading in to the final few weeks of their pre-season preparations in the built up to next seasons kick off on August 17th.
