Arsenal Handed Huge Boost In Suarez Pursuit

Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez after reports claim Real Madrid have no interest in signing the striker.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal receive a boost in their pursuit of Luis Suarez.

Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez with Spanish newspaper Marca claiming that Real Madrid have no interest in signing the striker.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger appears to have made Suarez his No.1 target this summer and the north Londoners tabled a record £40,000,001 bid for the 26-year-old on Tuesday. The offer was rejected by Liverpool with boss Brendan Rodgers insisting it didn’t meet their valuation but the player has been given permission to hold talks with with Arsenal due to a clause in the strikers contract.

The main concern for many Arsenal fans was the threat of Real Madrid swooping in and hijacking the move after they agreed to sell striker Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli for £32m.

However, Marca – who are regarded as Real Madrid’s ‘mouth-piece’ due to their close affiliation with the club – reported today that the Spanish giants have no interest in signing Suarez as a replacement for Higuain, even if he begged for a move, and they are ready to put their faith in highly-rated youngsters Morata and Jese.

“We believe in them [Morata & Jese] and they deserve this opportunity. They are also very good. If Higuaín leaves, we are not going to sign a new forward” a Madrid source is quoted as saying in Marca

If this report is accurate, it’s excellent news for Arsenal as their major competition to Suarez’s signature have ruled themselves out of the running. However, it will come as a bitter blow to Liverpool as they would no doubt have hoped that Madrid would come in to create a bidding war situation with the Merseysiders understandably favouring a sale abroad rather than to a domestic rival.

But with over five weeks left of the transfer window, anything can still happen. Madrid may have a change of heart or another wealthy foreign club may enter the race for Suarez’s signature. I’m sure this saga has a few twists and turns left yet, so we’ll have to see how things develop from here.
