United’s £35m Fabregas Bid To Be Rejected Because Of Arsenal’s £25m Buy-Back Clause

Manchester United are preparing a final £35m offer for Cesc Fabregas but Barcelona are likely to reject the bid because of Arsenal complex buy-back clause.

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona-Cesc-Fabregas

Manchester United are preparing a final £35m offer for Cesc Fabregas but Barcelona are likely to reject the bid because of Arsenal complex buy-back clause, according to the Mirror.

Fabregas has been strongly linked with a return to England just two years after leaving Arsenal because his time at Barca has not gone quite as smoothly as he may have hoped. The 26-year-old has struggled to establish himself as an important first team player at the Nou Camp and when he does play, he’s often played out of position.

United have already have already had two bids turned down with boss David Moyes declaring last Thursday that the champions pursuit of the midfielder was still “ongoing”, and the Mirror claim he’s now ready to go back in with a final bid of £35m plus add ons.

However, the newspaper suggests the Catalans are going to be forced to reject ANY offer from the champions because of Arsenal’s ‘fiendishly complicated’ buy-back clause they agreed when they sold the player in 2011, which allows the Gunners to re-sign Fabregas for just £25m should Barca agree to sell him to another club.

So theoretically, Barca could agree to sell Fabregas to United for £50m and Arsenal could then swoop in, activate their buy-back clause and snap him up for just £25m, should the midfielder choose a move to the Emirates over Old Trafford.

The Mirror claim Barcelona officials have become ‘paranoid’ that Arsenal are simply sitting back and waiting for this scenario to play out so they can pick up their former captain on the cheap. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed the north Londoners have a buy-back clause in the players contract last month and said he was “on alert” should Fabregas become available.

The report also suggests the Spanish giants have come up with a cunning plan to circumvent Arsenal’s clause by giving Fabregas the opportunity to buy-out his own contract for £48m, but this is not a figure United are prepared to go to, so it leave Moyes in a difficult situation and it looks increasingly unlikely that United will be able to land Fabregas this summer.
