Luis Suarez is back training with the Liverpool first team on Friday morning after apologising to Brendan Rodgers and his team-mates for his conduct over the summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The 26-year-old was forced to train alone by boss Brendan Rodgers after going public with his desire to move and join Premier League rivals Arsenal last month. A stand-off between the player and club has centered around a supposed clause in the Uruguayans contract that he believes entitles him to join a club in the Champions League if they submit a bid in excess of £40m – something Arsenal did with a £40,000,001 bid in July.

Liverpool dispute this and insist the clause merely forces them to inform the player of a bid and they are under no obligation to sell and any price.

However, after weeks of wrangling it appears the rift if showing signs of healing with Sky Sports claiming that Suarez has now issued an apology for his conduct this summer with reporter Vinny O’Conner, who was at the clubs Melwood training ground, saying:

“Luis Suarez has apologised to (manager) Brandan Rodgers and apologised to his team-mates over his general conduct.

“He has started his re-integration into the Liverpool first team and trained with them on Friday.

“Over a week ago, Brendan Rodgers said he would need an apology from Luis Suarez, as would the fans and his team-mates, after the apparent attempt by the player to force a move away from Anfield. It appears that the apology has come.

“Good news, in many ways, for Liverpool Football Club. It looks like things are beginning to settle down and Suarez is ready to fight for his first-team place.”

Suarez still has six games left to serve of his 10-game suspension so won’t be involved in first team matters for some time yet, but it seems he may have taken a step closer to accepting that he’s staying at Anfield this summer.

Where does this leave Arsenal, though? Will Arsene Wenger admit defeat and move on to another target? Or will he still try and force Liverpool’s hand with another offer?

There is little over 17 days left until the transfer window closes, so time is running out for the north Londoners but I wouldn’t bet against this saga taking another twist before the window closes.
