Chelsea got off to the perfect start to the new season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull City at Stamford Bridge. Here are player ratings for Jose Mourinho’s men from Rayyan Dabbous.

Cech: 7/10

The 31 year old goalkeeper had very little to do but when called upon, he did what was expected of him.

Ivanovic: 7/10

The Serbian captain put in a steady performance at right-back but was less adventurous going forward than we’ve seen in the past. He has shown real character on the pitch and he kept Hull City from using their wide options.

Cahill: 7/10

The England international was comfortable alongside Chelsea skipper John Terry at the heart of the defense. He was aggressive when called upon and clean in the tackle.

Terry: 8/10

The 32 year old Chelsea captain looked back to his best. He was dominant at the back and kept the Hull attack quiet but it was his leadership and experience that commanded his side to victory.

Cole: 7/10

Ashley Cole knows there is competition for his position this year as Mourinho kept Ryan Bertrand from going out on loan again. However, the experienced defender showed why he’s still one of the first names on the team sheet. Solid at the back and got forward to support the attack as well.

Ramires: 7/10

The Brazilian midfielder was deployed in a more defensive position than we’ve come to expect but he did his job well. He looked to have picked up a nasty injury in the first half but was able to continue.

Lampard:  9/10

Chelsea’s aging star showed he’s still got plenty to offer. Although he missed a penalty in the first 5 minutes of the game, he more than made up for it with a thunderous free-kick just 10 minutes later.

De Bruyne: 7.5/10

The young Belgium international was given a chance to shine from the start and the youngster took his opportunity with a fine display. Lovely ball to send Oscar clear for the opener.

Oscar: 8/10

The Brazilian midfielder orchestrated Chelsea’s attack. He fitted well in Chelsea’s fast paced attractive game and scored the opener for his side with cool finish.

Hazard: 7/10

The Belgian winger was not at his best but still showed glimpses of his capabilities. Looked dangerous when in possession but may not have seen as much of the ball as he would have liked.

Torres: 6.5/10

The Spaniard was given the nod ahead of Lukaku and Ba and had a mixed time of it. Won the penalty after being brought down in the box but once again wasn’t decisive enough in front of goal.

Subs

Shurrle: 7/10

The former Bayer Leverkusen player came on in the 66th minute for De Bruyne and he impressed well. The German almost got himself on the score-sheet after being teed up by  Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku: 7/10

Despite only coming on for the last 15 minutes Lukaku showed he has a lot to offer.

Van Ginkel: – N/A

Too late to make a real impact.
