Roma Officials In London To Discuss Pjanic & Lamela Deals
Officials from Italian outfit AS Roma are in London today and plan to meet up with Arsenal and Tottenham to discuss deals for Miralem Pjanic and Erik Lamela.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic both be heading to north London?
Officials from Italian outfit AS Roma are in London today to meet up with Arsenal and Tottenham to discuss deals for Miralem Pjanic and Erik Lamela, according to Corriere Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper claims that Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini arrived in the UK on Tuesday morning tasked with resolving the futures of both Tottenham target Lamela and Arsenal target Pjanic, with the midfielders lined-up for moves to north London.
The report suggests that Spurs are showing a keen interest in the 21-year-old Argentinean international and are looking to tie up a €35m deal before the transfer window closes, with Lamela presumably earmarked as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale.
Sabatini will also take advantage of being in north London by visiting Tottenham’s local rivals Arsenal to see if they can broker a deal for Pjanic. Corriere Dello Sport claim the Bosnian international could be available for around €18-20m and Roma are hoping that the Gunners may revive their interest having missed out on the 23-year-old when he left Lyon in 2011.
Reports back in June suggested that Pjanic almost moved to the Emirates two years before he opted for a move to Serie A, and with Arsenal’s obvious need for reinforcements this summer a deal could now be on the cards.
Roma have already sold star striker Osvaldo to Southampton this week so it seems rather odd that they also want to sell Lamela and Pjanic as well. Either the Rome club are in desperate need of money or they are raising funds to overhaul their squad with, but either way it will be good news for Arsenal and Tottenham if they can take advantage and snap up the exciting attackers.
Would Arsenal fans like to see Pjanic sign for the club? What about Spurs fans, is Lamela a good replacement for Bale? Share your opinions below.
