As Arsenal fans continue to wait for the big-name signings they’ve been promised, Gunner333 looks at 10 potential striker targets Arsene Wenger could be looking at.

Michu Swansea

All through the Summer we have been linked with a number of new signings and since the departure of RVP, a top striker has been our main concern. Here I highlight 10 sharpshooters who I believe boss Arsene Wenger could go for during the final days of the window.

10. Oscar Cardozo – Benfica

This Paraguayan Striking ace scored 105 goals in 160 appearances for Benfica since signing from Newell’s Old Boys in 2007 and has become a crucial part of the Portuguese side. Not only would the 30-year-old bring goals but he would also add experience to our current youthful looking squad.

9. Antoine Griezmann – Real Sociedad

Although not strictly a forward this French born attacker has proved he has the goal- scoring ability to play down the centre. Antoine played a key role in getting Real Sociedad into the Champions League and could potentially push Walcott out of the starting XI.

8. Klaas Jan-Huntelaar – FC Schalke 04

Big, strong, brilliant in the air and an excellent goal-scoring record; these are the attributes which make him a must-buy. He is capable of changing games and his potent goal threat would be a useful addition. A strike-force of himself and Giroud would certainly bully even the toughest of defences.

7. Leandro Damião – Internacional

With Santos gone we are lacking a bit of ‘Brazillian flair’ in the squad and Damiao would certainly fill this void with the attacking quality he possesses. Being linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs suggests he’s doing something right. It is about time he got to play in Europe’s top competition and the Emirates could be his number 1 destination.

6. Diego Costa – Atletico Madrid

Nicknamed ‘El Guaje’, Diego originally left Atletico after a tough start to his career, but after an impressive spell on loan at Albacete and a permanent move to Valladolid he returned to the Madrid club as a reborn player. He would be difficult to sign as his desire is to stay has seen him recently sign a new contract but it includes a buy-out clause, so you never know.

5. Stefan Kießling- Bayer Leverkusen

Scoring over 100 goals in the Bundesliga in under 8 years at Leverkusen is not easy and this evidence is why I have placed this German Powerhouse in the top 5. As mentioned, he has been at Leverkusen for a long time now and I’m sure he wouldn’t shy away from a move to North London in search of a new challenge.

4. Jackson Martinez – FC Porto

Originally signed as a replacement for Falcao, Jackson Martinez was the Primeira Liga’s top goal- scorer last campaign with 26 goals. With great strength and pace the Colombian is among many who have been tagged as the ‘new Drogba’. His style of play means he would fit into our system perfectly.

3. Karim Benzema – Real Madrid

Along with Suarez and Higuain, Benzema has been linked with a move to north London. While the Frenchman has reportedly claimed he wishes to stay at the Bernabeu to fight for his place, he may find himself pushed out the door once Gareth Bale completes his protracted move to the Bernabeu. If we were able to pull-off this very difficult deal then I believe he is good enough to turn us into title contenders.

2. Stephan El Shaarawy – AC Milan

A young Italian prodigy who was too good to even be classed among my ‘Top 10 youngsters‘ list. Not only is he capable of playing across the whole front-line, but Stephan also scored 16 goals last season putting him 3rd in the top-scorers list in Serie A. He can play with flair and vision whilst also providing the important end product.

1. Michu – Swansea City

Not the best player of the ten, but potentially the most realistic. Despite what Laudrup has said, I believe we could prize the Spaniard away from the Liberty Stadium. With Premier League experience and an eye for goal, he is surely the clearest option for this position and he won’t break the bank.
