Swansea vs Liverpool Preview: Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Key Man & Predicted Score
Liverpool get back to Premier League action as the take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night. Here’s a preview with team news and likely line-ups.
Liverpool get back to Premier League action as they take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have enjoyed an excellent start to the new season, winning each of their first three games 1-0 to boast the only 100% record in the division. The results leave the Reds sitting joint top of the Premier League table with Arsenal and Tottenham, so they can move clear if they avoid defeat tonight.
Daniel Sturridge has proved to be the match-winner so far this campaign, scoring in all three games including the winner last time out against Manchester United, so Rodgers will be desperate for his striker to be fit this evening after he missed England’s World Cup double-header through injury.
Swansea have endured a difficult opening, losing to both Manchester United and Tottenham before they claimed their first win of the season with a 2-0 defeat of West Brom before the international break, so Michael Laudrup will be keen to build on that victory.
Swansea manager Laudrup has no new injury concerns to contend with meaning he virtually has a fully-fit squad to choose form.
The only absentee is full-back Neil Taylor who is struggling with a thigh strain so Davies is expected to once again deputise in defence.
Jonjo Shelvey will face his former side after recovering from a thigh problem but new signing Alvaro Vazquez may have to wait to make his debut with Michu set to support Bony in attack.
Daniel Sturridge is expected to be passed fit to play despite a recent thigh injury keeping him out of action for England. Victor Moses is likely to make his debut following a loan move from Chelsea but defender Mamadou Sakho may have to wait a little longer to make his first start.
Glen Johnson has been ruled out for up to 4 weeks with an ankle injury so Rodgers has a void to fill at right back. Andre Wisdom could come in but Kolo Toure is also capable of filling in if Martin Skrtel is retained following an impressive show last time out against United.
It has to be the in-form striker Daniel Sturridge. He’s scored in every game so far, each of them a match-winning goal, and is full of confidence heading into this game. As long as he’s overcome his injury knock, we expect him to be the man to watch tonight.
Swansea 1-1 Liverpool: Despite Liverpool’s superb start to the new season, we expect Swansea to take something from this one.
