Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas played down injury fears after three of his player were forced off during Thursday nights 3-0 win over Tromso in the Europa League.

Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele and Younes Kaboul all failed to make it through the ninety minutes and it seemed that Spurs injury list was set to grow even further ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wales to face Cardiff.

However, speaking after the game last night AVB has played down those fears and is hopeful none of the injuries are long-term.

Rose – who has been impressive at left-back so far this season – appeared to suffer the most serious injury of the three as he hobbled of with an ankle injury and Villas-Boas confirmed the 23-year-old will be assessed on Friday.

Dembele was stretchered off midway through the second half after a heavy challenge but Villas-Boas described his condition as ‘steady’, while Kaboul limped off late on with what turned out to be an adductor problem and the Spurs boss confirmed he hasn’t ruptured anything.

“Dembele should be okay. He felt a lot of pain when he was brought down, but now he’s steady. Younes felt muscle tightness in his adductor and we decided to take him off. He was struggling but he didn’t rupture anything.

“We have to be a little bit more careful with Danny Rose. We hope it’s not serious. We have to give him one night to see the reaction of his ankle. He is in doubt for Sunday but he should be okay.”

AVB is quoted as saying by ESPN

Tottenham are already without the services of Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue so to lose another three players would be a huge blow to the north Londoners as they look to continue their impressive start to the new season against Cardiff on Sunday.
