Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon looking to regain top spot in the Premier League table. Here’s a preview with team news for the game.

West-Brom-Albion--The-Hawthorns

Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon looking to regain top spot in the Premier League table.

The Gunners dropped to second following Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon but we can climb back above the Merseysders if we avoid defeat on Sunday.

However, it will be three points Arsene Wenger is looking for as he looks to try and extend Arsenal’s impressive winning streak to 11 matches, while we haven’t been beaten on the road for 11 games.

We warmed up for this match with a stunning 2-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday night so should be heading to the Hawthorns in confident mood.

West Brom will be no pushovers though, as they proved last week against Manchester United when they left Old Trafford with a shock 2-1 win, so we know we’ll ave to be on top form this weekend to come away with anything.

Team News

Unfortunately, Bacary Sagna picked up a hamstring problem in midweek and has been ruled out for three weeks, meaning young Carl Jenkinson will fill in at right back.

The Frenchman joins Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski, Abou Diaby and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the sidelines. Yaya Sanogo is back training but it remains to be seen whether he’s done enough to prove his fitness yet.

Tomas Rosicky returned to the starting eleven on Tuesday after a month out but he looked a little rusty so Arsene Wenger may elect to recall Jack Wilsehre after resting him against Napoli. Otherwise, we should see largely the same team that played so well against the Italians.

West Brom are sweating on the fitness of winger Scott Sinclair who picked up a hamstring problem last week. Saido Berahino, who grabbed the winner in the game, is in line to start if Sinclair fails to make it.

Steve Clarke is expected to name the same side that started at Old Trafford, meaning Chris Brunt and former Gunner Nicolas Anelka may have to make do with places among the subs after recovering from injuries.

Likely Line-Ups

football formations

Key Man

Mesut Ozil: The German was unplayable during the first 45 minutes against Napoli and if he plays like that again on Sunday, West Brom are in for some trouble. His link-up play with Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud in particular has been impressive in recent weeks, so watch out for more of the same this weekend.

Predicted Score

West Brom 1-2 Arsenal: West Brom are a tough side to beat but we’re absolutely flying right now and I see no reason why we shouldn’t pick up all three points to move back to the top of the league.
