Arsenal Eye Fresh Suarez Bid But Madrid Could Gazump Them With £20m + Benzema Deal
Arsenal are lining up a fresh bid for Luis Suarez but could be gazumped by Real Madrid who are set to offer Liverpool £20m plus Karim Benzema for the Uruguayan
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Arsenal and Real Madrid are linked with Luis Suarez.
Arsenal are lining up a fresh bid for Luis Suarez but could be gazumped by Real Madrid who are set to offer Liverpool £20m plus Karim Benzema for the Uruguayan, according to the Daily Star.
Suarez was one of the most talked about players during the summer transfer window after he went public with his desire to leave Anfield in search of Champions League football. Liverpool were determined not to let their star man leave and rejected two bids from Premier League rivals Arsenal, insisting they wouldn’t sell the player at any price.
However, that doesn’t appear to have deterred the Gunners with the Star claiming boss Arsene Wenger is lining-up a fresh bid this winter as he looks to add a world class striker to his ranks to boost their surprise title push.
But the north Londoners could once again see their attempts to land the 26-year-old fail with the report also suggesting that Spanish giants Real Madrid are set to table a £20m plus Karim Benzema swap deal for Suarez – who the paper claims is still determined to leave Merseyside despite their promising start to the season and has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.
Benzema has endured a torrid start to the season, scoring just 2 goals in 10 appearances, and has received jeers from his own fans after some lackluster displays. The Star say the Frenchman has been told he’ll be sold in January but if he turns down a potential move to Anfield, Madrid are ready to go in for Suarez with a cash only bid.
Liverpool fans must be growing tired of the constant speculation over Suarez’s future as the club are adamant he wont be sold, but the player has brought this on himself by going public with his desire to leave. He made it clear he wanted out and has been forced to stay, so clubs who can offer Champions League football are obviously going to try their luck to sign a world class talent.
Whether Liverpool will cave in and agree to sell if they receive a tempting enough offer remains to be seen, but I’d be hugely surprised if they sold mid-season and if they do sell I can only see him going abroad and not to a domestic rival such as Arsenal.
