Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton on Sunday afternoon hoping to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.
Spurs head into the weekend’s action sitting fourth after last weeks narrow 1-0 win over Hull City and with Arsenal playing third-placed Liverpool on Saturday evening, they will be hoping to take advantage of two of their title rivals playing each other with a win at Goodison Park the following day.
Andre Villas-Boas made several changes to his side for Wednesday’s Capital One Cup clash with Hull so a number of first team regulars are expected to be recalled on Sunday.
Hugo Lloris will return in goal while Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches are also expected to start. Sandro could come in to midfield alongside Paulinho with Andros Townsend and Lewis Holtby restored in attack after sitting out the action in midweek.
Gylfi Sigurdsson will be hoping to retain his place after scoring a stunning goal against the Tigers while Roberto Soldado should expect to start after being rested last time out.
Younes Kaboul made a successful return to action after a long injury layoff but is unlikely to be asked to play a second game in four days. Etienne Capoue returned to the squad against Hull and could be on the bench again on Sunday but Danny Rose is still struggling with a toe injury.

I would make the following changes:
a) Replace Walker with Kaboul. Walker is a very iffy player, dangerous tackles, not good defensively. Plays like a headless chicken, really.
b) Instead of Sandro, I would play Lamela. Our midfield is too slow. In the Hull game, Lamela showed glimpses of his prowess, and his ability to link up with the forward line. Sandro is too erratic; bad passing, etc. Also plays like a headless chicken.
c) I would replace Gylfi with Eriksen – more classy.
This way we would be introducing most of our classy summer signings. And have a faster, attacking midfield.

Kaboul can’t play again after just returning from long term injury. As for Sandro who is just regaining full fitness he’s anything but a headless chicken! He’s immense admittedly he’s had the odd average game since retiring but that’s to be expected..

We need Dembele in midfield; he is the only one who can actually beat players. Siggudson for Erikson -we need someone that can score. Sandro had a bad game against Hull on Sunday so we need Dembele/Paulino as our defensive midfield.

1. kaboul is a CB not a RB, has only played there to fill-in in injury crisis’.
2. lamela is a winger/forward not a DM.
3. eriksen is an AM not a winger.

Would replace Sandro with Capoue, push Townsend left and bring in Lennon on the right, with Holtby in the hole. We desperately need pace and width to stretch their central defenders and pin back Coleman and Baines.
Capoue has Sandro strength but greater composure on the ball.
With Kaboul, Sandro, Eriksen, Defoe, Dembele and Lamela on the bench, AVB has the players to shuffle things around if need be., COYS

As crazy as it sounds, I’d start with Lennon instead of Townsend. For all his labour Townsend rarely actually produces, in terms of assists/goals. If we need a goal binging him on in the 60th minute could be a match winner.
