Corinthians sporting director, Roberto de Andrade, has admitted striker Alexandre Pato could be sold to Arsenal or Tottenham in January amid reported interest from the north London duo, according to Sky Sports News.

Pato ended a five-year stay at AC Milan last January after losing his first team place at the San Siro when he quit Italy to return to his homeland with Corinthians.

The 24-year-old has rediscovered something like his best form back in Brazil over the past 11 months and recent reports have suggested Arsenal and Tottenham will try to lure the striker to the Premier League when the transfer window re-opens this winter.

Now, Corinthians sporting director Andrade has suggested that while Pato is unlikely to be sold to another Brazilian club, he could join one of the north London clubs in January if they come in with a suitable offer.

”Considering his value, I think it’s hard that he moves to another Brazilian club.

“If those two clubs [Arsenal and Tottenham] are interested in Pato, we don’t rule out selling him in the winter transfer market.”

The Brazilian international recently claimed that he spurned the advances of Spurs in the summer in favour of remaining with Corinthians.

“Tottenham had called Corinthians to ask for my transfer. I sat at the table with the club and my agent and I decided I wanted to stay.” Pato is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

This snub doesn’t appear to have deterred Andre Villas-Boas though as he’s been linked with making another move for the striker this winter. However, this time he may have to fight off competition from north London rivals Arsenal with boss Arsene Wenger likely to be in the market for another striker in January as he’s currently over-reliant on Olivier Giroud up front.
