Chelsea travelled to Switzerland on Monday afternoon in preparation for their Champions League clash with FC Basel tomorrow night.

The Blues will be hoping for a win to secure qualification to the knockout stages but boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that they have been forced to leave defender David Luiz back in London after he picked up a knee injury.

It means that Gary Cahill will continue to partner John Terry at the heart of defence, while Ashley Cole could get a recall after missing out in recent weeks.

The good news is that striker Fernando Torres has travelled with the rest of the squad and is expected to start up front with Samuel Eto’o dropping out. Juan Mata could be recalled to the starting eleven after being named on the bench for Saturday’s 3-0 win over West Ham, while Oscar should keep his place alongside Eden Hazard in attack after an excellent outing at Upton Park.

John Obi Mikel is expected to retain his place in midfield with him sitting alongside Jose Mourinho for Monday’s press conference, so Frank Lampard may get a rest after a superb goal-scoring display at the weekend.
