With the January transfer window just around the corner, managers will be working hard to identify potential new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Konstantinos Mitroglou while Manchester United are tracking Alex Teixeira.

Arsenal & Liverpool track Mitroglou

Arsenal and Liverpool are battling it out for Olympiakos goal machine Konstantinos Mitroglou, according to the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old striker has been in red-hot form so far this season, scoring 22-goals for both club and country, and it appears he’s attracting interest from the Premier League.

The Star claim Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping tabs on the £7m-rated hitman ahead of the January transfer window, with Arsene Wenger understood to be looking to bring in another forward to help ease the pressure on Olivier Giroud while Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out for striking reinforcements following injury to Daniel Sturridge.

Olympiakos coach Jose Miguel Michel has confirmed their is interest in Mitroglou and admitted it’s going to be difficult for the Greek outfit to hang on to the striker.

“If he keeps on doing well, it will be hard to keep him.

“We’ve known for some time that there has been interest from many clubs, but that’s only logical considering how well he has been doing lately.” Michel is quoted as saying by the Star.

Mitroglou currently plays alongside Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell and it’s suggested that Wenger could use the clubs close ties with Olympiakos to try and sway a deal in their favour. However, the north Londoners are likely to face stiff competition for the hitman’s signature.

Moyes eyes Teixeira

Next up and the Mirror are reporting that Manchester United will step up their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira if Roma refuse to sell Kevin Strootman.

The report claims that Moyes is desperate to strengthen his squad following a disappointing start to life at Old Trafford and central midfield is believed to be a particular area of concern for the Scot.

The Mirror suggest that Holland star Strootman is United’s first choice target but with Roma understandably reluctant to sell just months after luring him to Italy, Moyes has now added Teixeira to his wish list after being left hugely impressed by the 23-year-old’s display against his team in the Champions League last week.

While United may have more chance of landing the Brazilian international, the newspaper report states that Shakhtar will demand £25m for the players services which may put a block on any potential move.
