Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday evening and after the game Arsene Wenger gave an injury update on Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner and Thomas Vermaelen.

Arsenal eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over rivals Tottenham on Saturday evening.

However, the win was marred by injuries to Theo Walcott and Thomas Vermaelen after the pair were forced off with knee injuries. After the game, boss Arsene Wenger spoke to reporters and gave Arsenal.com an update on the duo as well as giving the latest on Nicklas Bendtner.

Walcott was stretchered from the field late on after appearing to twist his knee and Wenger confirmed he isn’t sure whether the attacker has stretched his ligament or it was from the result of a kick.

Vermaelen on the other hand also took a kick to his knee during the first half and was replaced by Per Mertesacker at half-time, but Wenger failed to state whether it was anything serious.

The Gunners boss did confirm that Bendtner will be out for a month with his ankle injury. The Dane picked up the problem against Cardiff City in midweek and while some reports suggested he could miss up to two months, it seems he’ll be back a little sooner than expected.

Here’s what Wenger told the clubs official website:

on Walcott’s injury…

Theo has a knee problem. We dont know if it is a stretched ligament or just a kick, he got two kicks on his knee.

on Nicklas Bendtner…

It will be for one month, we expected it could have been more, but we had good news.

on Thomas Vermaelen…

He has a kick in his knee.

Fingers crossed Theo’s injury was just a knock and isn’t serious. It would be a huge blow to lose him again as he’s made a massive impact since returning from his last injury and he looked decent up front against Spurs.
