Monthly Awards: Moyes v Mourinho – Liverpool & Arsenal Stars Battle For Player Gong
David Moyes is up against Jose Mourinho for the manager of the Month Award for December, while Luis Suarez and Theo Walcott are up for the player award.
Manchester United manager David Moyes is up against Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho for the Barclay’s Premier League Manager of the Month Award for December, it has been announced today.
United may have endured a nightmare start to 2014 – losing all three games so far – but the defending champions actually enjoyed an excellent December with four wins and a draw moving them to within touching distance of the top four.
Moyes will face stiff competition from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who won five and lost one of his seven games last month, while Man City manager Manuel Pellagrini is also in contention having won six of his seven games.
The final name in the running is Everton boss Roberto Martinez who won four of his six matches, but there is no place for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger despite his side currently topping the table.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is the clear favourite to land the Player of the Month Award having scored 9 goals and provided 7 assists in his seven games in December.
The Uruguayan will be up against Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott who bagged two goals and five assists for the league leaders, while Everton’s highly-rated youngster Ross Barkley is also nominated.
Man City have three players all in contention with Alvaro Negredo, Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany all in the running.
