Premier League leaders Arsenal entertain Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

We head into the weekend sitting top of the table following Monday’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa, where first half goals from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud were enough to see us come back to the capital with all three points.

The win was Arsenal’s fifth in a row in all competitions but our lead at the top is just a single point from Manchester City with Chelsea a further point adrift, so it’s all to play for at the business end of the table and any slip up could see us plummet to third.

Fulham make the short trip across London off the back of last weeks FA Cup win over Norwich, but they sit dangerously close to the relegation zone in the league with just one point separating them from 18th placed Cardiff, so Rene Meulensteen will be desperate to pick up a positive result tomorrow.

The Gunners won the reverse fixture 3-1 at Craven Cottage earlier in the season and a similar result tomorrow would ensure we lead the way after 22 games.

Realistically, if we have any hopes of winning the league we need to be winning these games, and we should certainly be confident of doing so. Fulham at home should be a ‘banker’ and I’m guessing Arsenal will be featuring on a number of accumulators this weekend. Team News

Arsene Wenger confirmed on Arsenal.com that Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey will miss the game through injury and the duo aren’t expected to be fit for next weeks FA Cup clash with Coventry either.

Jack Wilshere is therefore likely to continue his partnership with Mathieu Flamini in midfield, although Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in contention having made a substitute appearance against Villa.

Lukas Podolski didn’t feature that day due to a niggling hamstring injury but he’s fit and available tomorrow, as is Nacho Monreal who has shaken off an ankle knock.

Tomas Rosicky broke his nose after being caught by Gabby Agbonlahor’s elbow on Monday and he’ll have to play with a mask if he features tomorrow.

Theo Walcott is of course out for the season and he joins Thomas Vermaelen, Nicklas Bendtner and Abou Diaby on the sidelines.

Fulham welcome back captain Brede Hangeland after he came through their FA Cup win over Norwich unscathed. He could be partnered by former Gunner Philippe Senderos in defence with Fernando Amorebieta a major doubt.

The Venezuela international is the visitors only injury concern so Meulensteen has virtually a full squad to choose from.

Likely Line-Ups

football formations

Key Man

Olivier Giroud: The big Frenchman will have a key role to play as he’ll be up against tough opposition in Brede Hangeland. Getting the better of that duel is going to be important for the Gunners as Giroud is the focal point of the attack.

Predicted Score

Arsenal 3-0 Fulham: Our home record has been very good this season following our slip up on the opening day and we should have way too much for Fulham tomorrow.
