How Many Will Arsenal Beat West Ham By?

Premiership Tips preview Arsenal’s Premier League game with West Ham United this weekend

Written by Premiership Tips.

Heading into Saturday’s 3pm kickoff at the Emirates stadium between Arsenal and West Ham, the result doesn’t look in doubt. The bookmakers have placed Arsenal as 1/5 favourites to beat the bottom of the Premier League visitors.

Arsenal got back to winning ways in the Premier League two weeks ago with a home victory against Birmingham. That was followed up with a 5-1 victory over Shakhar Donestsk before thrashing 10-man Manchester City 3-0 last weekend. A midweek 4-0 thrashing over Newcastle only showed what Arsenal are capable of, now having scored 14 goals in their last 4 games, all leading to victories.

Meanwhile, West Ham lie bottom of the Premier League, 3 points and a large number of goals from escaping the drop zone. A home defeat to Newcastle last weekend was a big blow to the London side who have looked dreadful in defence this season.

A midweek victory over Stoke in the Carling Cup may have given them a confidence boost, but the additional 30 minutes extra time may have worn the first teamers down. Not that there were many of them, but Scott Parker, Carlton Cole and James Tomkins all played the full 90 minutes. And Rob Green wasn’t part of the winning side.

So with West Ham’s key players fatigued from their midweek game, and Arsenal’s first teamers rested and firing, the finger points to only one side winning this weekend’s fixture at the Emirates. Well, only one side can ever win a single match of football, but you get what I mean. Arsenal are rightfully the firm favourites, and it’s a case of how many they are going to win by.

West Ham’s biggest asset this season, and the one that has helped them to their meagre 6 points is their midfield. Unfortunately for the visitors, I can see the likes of Scott Parker, Mark Noble and Keiron Dyer being outplayed by the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Andrey Arshavin. Not to mention former Gunner, Luis Boa Morte. Marouane Chamakh is too good for Matthew Upson, and Rob Green is a bigger liability than Manuel Almunia, who has finally been dropped from the Arsenal starting XI. Although he claims to be injured.

In terms of odds for this match, Arsenal are 1/5 just to win. Easy money. On the handicap, Arsenal are ½ -1.5 as pointed out in this weeks Premier League Tips. Their price becomes attractive at -2.5 when the bookmakers give out above evens. How many do you predict Arsenal will beat West Ham by this weekend?
