Manchester United take on Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to bounce back from last week’s 2-1 loss to Stoke City.

Ahead of the game, boss David Moyes has been speaking to the media today and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update with the latest on the fitness of Phil Jones, Marouane Fellaini and Jonny Evans.

Evans was forced off after just 11 minutes against Stoke with a calf problem and Moyes has confirmed that the centre-back won’t be available for action this weekend.

Defensive partner Jones was also stretchered from the field just before half time at the Britannia Stadium after suffering concussion following a clash of heads with Jonathan Walters, but the United boss said there’s a ‘good chance’ the versatile defender will be involved this weekend.

However, Moyes will have to continue to make do without the services of Fellaini after his comeback was delayed due to a small groin problem. The midfielder hasn’t featured since early December because of a wrist injury but he’s now set to miss another week after picking up the latest injury in training.

Moyes told the clubs official website:

“Marouane picked up a groin injury in training which will probably rule him out for another week possibly,”

“His wrist injury is much improved, but he just felt his groin after training one day this week. We’ll keep an eye on him for a few days.

“Jonny Evans isn’t available but there is a good chance Jones could make it. He has trained today and we’ll see how he is.”

The good news for Moyes is that Nemanja Vidic – who announced today that he’ll leave the club at the end of the season – will return from a three-match ban, and the Serb is expected to replace Evans at the back.

United go into the weekend action desperate to claw their way back into the top-four reckoning after they slipped seven points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool following last Saturday’s defeat to Stoke.
