Chelsea Team News: Mourinho Offers Injury Update Ahead Of WBA Clash

Chelsea take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night. Here’s the latest team news from Jose Mourinho including the latest on Terry and Torres

Torres-vs-Sunderland

Chelsea take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Ahead of the game, boss Jose Mourinho has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and gave reporters a team news and injury update with the latest on the fitness of John Terry and Fernando Torres.

The good news is that Torres is back in contention after recovering from a knee injury. The Spaniard picked up the problem during the Blues 3-1 win over Manchester United on the 19th January, but he’s since returned to training and will be available for selection tomorrow.

However, Mourinho also confirmed that Terry will miss the trip to the Midlands with a muscle injury that kept him out of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United, but the skipper is expected to return to face Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

“John Terry is still out. Fernando is back and available for selection. I expect John to be back for the next game (against Man City).” Mourinho told talkSPORT.

Chelsea head into the midweek fixtures sitting one point clear of Arsenal in the table having leapfrogged their London rivals at the weekend, and Mourinho will be keen to put the pressure on by opening up a four-point advantage ahead of the Gunners clash with Manchester United the following day.
