Liverpool take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night looking to continue their push for the top three in the Premier League.

Ahead of the game, boss Brendan Rodgers has given the Liverpool Echo a team news and injury update including the latest on the fitness of Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson.

Agger has been sidelined for over a month after picking up a calf injury during the Reds FA Cup win over Oldham Athletic in early January, but he’s now back in full training and will be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Johnson was removed from first team duties three weeks ago to give him time to recover from niggling ankle and groin injuries and Rodgers has also confirmed that the right-back has returned to full training and could be in contention to face Fulham on Wednesday.

“Glen and Daniel have come back into training, which is brilliant for us,” Rodgers told the ECHO.

“We will see how they go between now and Wednesday. They certainly look very strong in training.

“Whether the midweek game is going to be too soon for them, we will see. But it’s great to have them back and see their qualities.”

The return of Johnson and Agger will be a timely boost for Liverpool with Rodgers having to make-do with limited options at the back in recent weeks.

Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel, Jon Flanagan and Aly Cissokho have been forced to play the majority of games as Jose Enrique and Mamadou Sakho are also on the sidelines, so it will be a relief to get some more bodies back who can ease the load.

Liverpool head into the midweek fixtures sitting three points clear in fourth following Saturday’s 5-1 win over Arsenal while they are now just four points off third-placed Manchester City, so it’s all to play for as we head into the final 13 games of the season.
