Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for Hugo Lloris with the Gunners understood to be one of several clubs monitoring the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, according to reports in France.

The 27-year-old has been in excellent form since moving to White Hart Lane from Lyon in 2012 and it appears he’s attracting a long list of admirers, with French media outlet Le10 Sport reporting that Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Altetico Madrid are keeping a close eye on the France international ahead of a potential summer move.

Earlier this month, Gunners striker Olivier Giroud had suggested his compatriot would be keen to join him at the Emirates Stadium, but Lloris dismissed the idea as embarrassing and claimed he had too much respect for the Spurs fans to join their bitter rivals.

However, that doesn’t seem to have stopped the newspaper claiming a move to Arsenal could still be a possibility this summer and while it’s no surprise that some of Europe’s top clubs are looking at Lloris, supposed interest from Arsene Wenger is sure to raise a few eyebrows in north London.

Lloris is still under contract until 2016 but you’d expect speculation over his future to intensify if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, and with the Lillywhites currently six points off fourth place, they have it all to do to reach Europe’s top table.

Despite Le10 Sports report, a move to Arsenal would be something of a surprise not only because of the rivalry between the two clubs, but also because of the faith Arsene Wenger has shown in Wojciech Szczesny. The Pole has been trusted as Arsenal’s No.1 for almost three years and has been in superb form this season, and it would be a huge dent to his confidence if his boss was to replace him with a more experienced keeper this summer.

Therefore, if Lloris was to leave Spurs, I’d say he’s far more likely to head back to Ligue 1 while a move to Atletico Madrid would also make sense as they’ll be on the look out for a new first choice keeper if they can’t agree a deal to take on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to the Vicente Calderon on a permanent basis, but I wouldn’t bet on him joining Arsenal.
