Van Persie Could Be Sold With Moyes Becoming Frustrated With ‘Unhappy’ Striker

David Moyes is considering selling Robin van Persie after growing frustrated by his poor on-field attitude, amid reports that former club Arsenal are interested

The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, could David Moyes sell Robin van Persie?

Manchester United manager David Moyes is considering selling Robin van Persie this summer after growing frustrated by the strikers ‘erratic’ contribution and poor on-field attitude, according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutchman has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford with a number of niggling injuries restricting him to just 20 appearances in all competitions so far.

While the 30-year-old has scored an impressive 14 times during that time, he’s failed to build upon his promising partnership with Wayne Rooney and the two have played like strangers at times this season. This was particularly evident during last weeks 2-0 defeat to Olympiakos in the Champions League, when the pair barely passed the ball to each other.

The former Arsenal striker publicly slammed United following that game, labeling them as ‘lousy’ and fuelled speculation that he was unsettled at Old Trafford after admitting it had been a tough season.

The Daily Mail are now claiming that some of van Persie’s team mates feel the striker is unhappy at the club and boss David Moyes has privately expressed his frustrations about the players form and on-field body language.

It’s left the Scot wondering whether van Persie is the right man to lead United’s attack next season as they try to re-establish themselves as a major force in the Premier League again, or whether the time might be right to cash in and sell the player this summer.

This news comes after reports emerged suggesting that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already met with RVP’s agent to discuss the possibility of a shock move back to Arsenal, while the Metro claimed last week that the French coach has already started working on a deal to try and lure the striker back to the Emirates.

Van Persie has certainly had a disappointing season when compared to last year, when he scored 26 goals in 38 appearances to help fire United to the Premier League title, and he doesn’t seem as content with life at Old Trafford, but I’m not convinced he’ll make a move back to north London.

His exit from Arsenal back in 2012 was a messy one and many of the Emirates faithful still haven’t forgiven him for the way he left the club, so while I wouldn’t be surprised if Moyes did decide to sell in the summer, I don’t think we’ll see him back in the Red & White of Arsenal any time soon.
