Chelsea Join Arsenal In Eyeing Move For ‘Unsettled’ Robin Van Persie

Chelsea have joined Arsenal in lining-up a move to try and lure Robin Van Persie away from Manchester United at the end of the season, according to reports.

The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, more clubs join the race for Robin van Persie.

Chelsea are the latest club who are lining-up a move to try and lure Robin Van Persie away from Manchester United at the end of the season, according to the Mirror.

The Dutchman’s future has been filling the back pages in recent weeks with speculation suggesting the 30-year-old is becoming increasingly disgruntled with life at Old Trafford after his outburst following their defeat to Olympiakos in the Champions League.

Reports earlier this week claimed that David Moyes could be ready to cash in on the striker after growing frustrations over the players erratic form and body language this season, while United team mates are also understood to feel the striker is unsettled at the club.

Widespread reports coming out of Italy last month suggested that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already met with van Persie’s agent to discuss a potential shock move back to the Emirates Stadium, but now it appears another of United’s Premier League rivals are eyeing a move for the Holland international.

The Mirror claim that Chelsea have now also expressed an interest in bringing RVP back to London if he wants out of United this summer, but the duo could face competition from Juventus and Monaco – who are also understood to be keeping a close eye on the players situation.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has already hinted he’ll be in the marker for a world class front man this summer after recently claiming he ‘had no strikers’, despite Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba all being on the books at Stamford Bridge.

A move for van Persie would make a lot of sense for Chelsea as he’s not only one of the best strikers in Europe, but he’s also a proven goalscorer here in England, but it remains to be seen how United would react should the west Londoners come calling this summer.

If van Persie does push for a move, a switch back to Arsenal would be tricky given the way he left north London back in 2012, so a move to Chelsea could appeal to the Dutchman if he wants to stay in the Premier League.

It’s certainly gearing up to be an interesting summer in the transfer market and I wouldn’t be surprised if van Persie becomes one of this years big transfer sagas.
