Chelsea welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening for this weekends stand-out Premier League clash.

The Blues head into the game sitting four points clear of second placed Liverpool and with none of their title rivals playing a league fixture this weekend, the west Londoners have the opportunity to open up a seven point advantage.

Jose Mourinho’s men beat Fulham 3-1 last time out thanks largely to a hat-trick from Andre Schurrle, and that was the latest in a number of impressive results the club have produced since the turn of the year.

Chelsea also boast a formidable record against Tottenham having not lost a home game in 26 attempts, so they should be full of confidence heading into this one.

However, Spurs are also in fine form of late and the north Londoners have the best away record in the division at present, so they could pull off a shock and record their first victory at the Bridge since 1990.

Tim Sherwood has already surprised many with his fine record since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas last year, and he’ll be looking to close the gap on the top-four to just a single point with a win tomorrow.

Team News

Chelsea are likely to be without the services of David Luiz after the defender picked up a knock while away with the Brazil squad in midweek. If he misses out, it means Gary Cahill is sure to continue his partnership alongside John Terry at the back.

Ashley Cole has also been ruled out for up to 10 days after suffering a ligament injury in training on Thursday, so Cesar Azpilicueta will continue at left-back, but Eden Hazard has been passed fit to play despite picking up a foot injury during Belgium’s 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

Tottenham also have their fair share of injury concerns with Tim Sherwood confirming that Christian Eriksen is likely to miss out with a back problem. The injury has already kept the attacker out of last weeks win over Cardiff as well as Denmark’s loss to England in midweek.

However, Spurs have been boosted with the return of Kyle Walker who’s recovered from a hip injury that’s kept him out of the last four games. Younes Kaboul is also in contention having overcome a calf strain, but Zeki Fryers is a doubt after being forced to pull out of the England under-21 squad in midweek.

Danny Rose (knee), Etienne Capoue (ankle), Erik Lamela (back) and Vlad Chiriches (back) are all still out.

Likely Line-Ups

football formations

Key Man

Eden Hazard: The Belgian winger was back to his best during last weeks win over Fulham, setting up two goals for Andre Schurrle, and we can see him being a key man against tomorrow. Spurs will have to keep him quiet if they want to take anything away from the game.

Prediction

Chelsea 2-1 Spurs: The Blues impressive home record is likely to play a crucial role here as we can see Mourinho grinding out another vital three points to open up a seven point lead at the top.
