Arsenal Eye Striker Who’s Scored 11 Goals In 23 Games – Is He Good Enough?

Another name has been added to the long list of strikers of interest to Arsene Wenger. Find out who the player is that’s scored 11 goals in 23 games this season

The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal’s interest in Josip Drmic.

Another name has been added to the long list of strikers of interest to Arsene Wenger with the Metro claiming that the boss is keeping a close eye on Huremberg ace Josip Drmic.

We’re expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer with Wenger set to be armed with a sizeable kitty following our latest positive financial results while the new PUMA kit deal is also going to boost the coffers further.

The boss has failed to bring in an established striker over the past three 18 months and with Nicklas Bendtner due to leave the club when his contract expires in June, a forward is almost certainly going to be on the agenda this summer.

We’ve been linked with a whole host of names in recent months including the likes of Alvaro Morata, Karim Benzema and Jackson Martinez, but the latest to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Nuremberg hitman Josip Drmic.

The Swiss international may not be a name many are familiar with but he’s been impressing during his debut season in Germany this year and with 11 goals in 23 appearances for a struggling Nuremberg side in the Bundesliga, it’s easy to see why he’s earning rave reviews.

The Metro cite reports coming from German publication Bild that claim Arsenal have sent scouts to keep a close eye on the 21-year-old this season with Arsene instructing his spies to compile a detailed report on the youngster ahead of a possible move at the end of the season.

Dmric’s impressive form has also seen him break into the Switzerland senior national team, where’s he’s scored two goals in five caps so far, so he’s certainly starting to make a name for himself.

However, is he good enough for Arsenal yet? There is little doubt we need to add to our strike-force this summer but with youngsters like Yaya Sanogo, Joel Campbell and Chuba Akpom already on the books at Arsenal, I really don’t see the need for us to sign any more inexperienced strikers.

We need a world class addition who is better than Olivier Giroud already, or at the very least an established striker who will push the Frenchman for a starting spot. Dmric may be a talent, but we have plenty of those already, and we need somebody who’s ready to hit the ground running and do a job for us now. So for that reason I hope nothing comes of this interest and the boss is a bit more ambitious with his targets this summer.
