West Brom vs Tottenham Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Key Man + Prediction

Tottenham will be in the Midlands on Saturday afternoon to take on West Brom at the Hawthorns. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups and prediction.

West-Brom-Albion--The-Hawthorns

Tottenham Hotspur will be in the Midlands on Saturday afternoon to take on West Brom at the Hawthorns looking to close in on the top-four.

Spurs kept their hopes of securing Champions League football alive with an impressive 5-1 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane on Monday night, with Emmanuel Adebayor helping himself to a brace.

The result leaves Tim Sherwood’s men in sixth place in the Premier League table but they can move to within just two points of rivals Arsenal with another win on Saturday, which would keep them in touch heading in to the final four games.

But in order to do so, Spurs will need to improve on their away form having lost their last three on the road at Norwich, Chelsea and Liverpool without scoring a single goal.

The North Londoners will also face a West Brom side in confident mood after their vital 1-0 win away at relegation rivals Norwich last weekend, with the win moving Pepe Mel’s side five points clear of the relegation zone on 32 points.

The Baggies also have a game in hand over those around them but Mel will be desperate to pick up his first home victory since taking charge three months ago to put them within touching distance of survival for another year.

Team News

Tottenham have mounting injury worries with Tim Sherwood facing up to being without 8 first team squad players for the game.

Midfielder Sandro is a major doubt after picking up a calf injury in training on Thursday so youngster Nabil Bentaleb could be set for a recall.

Roberto Soldado is back in training after a hamstring injury but is still lacking match fitness so won’t travel. The Spaniard joins Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Etienne Capoue and Erik Lamela on the sidelines.

West Brom are sweating on the fitness of midfielder James Morrison after the Scot picked up an ankle knock and could be replaced by the fit-again Claudio Yacob – who’s back in contention having recovered from a hamstring strain.

Chris Brunt is also pushing for a recall after a ligament injury, but Zoltan Gera is out with a hamstring problem.

Likely Line-Ups

football formations

Key Man

Christian Eriksen: The Dane has been in excellent form of late and was central to all of Spurs positive attacking play against Sunderland last time out, setting up two and scoring a lovely long-range strike. He’ll be important again tomorrow.

Predicted Score

West Brom 1-2 Tottenham: The hosts are going to be fighting for their lives as they look to secure a vital win that would pretty-much guarantee their survival but we think Spurs might just have a little too much quality in the end.
