As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal renew talks over Alvaro Morata and Chelsea are keen on signing Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa this summer.

Arsenal enter Morata talks

First up and the Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal have reopened talks with Real Madrid over the potential signing of striker Alvaro Morata.

The Gunners were linked with the 21-year-old back in January and were keen on taking him on a six-month loan but Carlo Ancelotti refused to let the talented youngster leave mid-season.

However, the Telegraph claims that the newly-crowned European champions are now willing to sell the striker and have entered formal discussions with Arsenal over a potential deal. No fee has been mentioned but the newspaper suggests that Madrid are pushing for a buy-back clause to be inserted into the deal meaning they can re-sign the striker during any transfer window over the next two years.

Whether Arsenal will be prepared to include such a clause remains to be seen, but the Spanish international would be an excellent signing for the Gunners.

Morata has found first team football hard to come by at the Bernabeu and started just 6 games last season, so it’s easy to see why he’d be keen on leaving the La Liga giants in search of regular action.

He’s sure to get more opportunities at the Emirates as Arsene Wenger has been heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud over the past two seasons so to have another quality option up front would give the north Londoners some much needed depth.

Chelsea are back in for Falcao

Next up and the Daily Star are reporting that Chelsea are lining-up a £25m bid for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao and are keen on pairing him with Diego Costa next season.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in some world class talent up front this summer after complaining of his ‘lack of strikers‘ last campaign, despite the fact he had Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba available.

Costa is widely tipped to move to Stamford Bridge in a £32m deal but it seems the spending won’t stop there now that Chelsea are set to recoup around £50m from the sale of David Luiz to PSG, with the Star claiming that Mourinho also wants to bring in Falcao.

The newspaper suggests that the west Londoners are ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a cheeky £25m bid for the Colombian hitman, but I have a feeling they may be knocked back rather quickly by the Ligue 1 outfit.

There’s little chance Chelsea will be able to land a player of Falcao’s quality for just £25m, despite the fact he’s 28 and currently battling to overcome a serious knee injury. Monaco are under no pressure to sell and they spent £50m on him just 12 months ago, so if Chelsea do want to sign him as well as Costa, then they are going to need to dig a little deeper.
