Arsenal are set to hold talks with Manchester United and Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez within the next 48 hours after Barcelona accepted the north Londoners €40m bid, according to reports.

Sanchez is one of the most sought after players on the transfer market this summer after Barcelona made it clear they are willing to cash in on the attacker as he doesn’t feature in new boss Luis Enrique’s first team plans for next season.

Understandably, he’s attracted interest from a whole host of top European clubs with reports claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Serie A champions Juventus have all tabled offers for the 25-year-old.

Speculation has suggested that Sanchez was leaning towards the Gunners and it appears they are now the firm favourites as Goal suggest the North Londoners have had a €40m (£32m) bid accepted by Barcelona and the structure of the payments has also been agreed.

The report states that Arsene Wenger has already spoken to the player and personal terms have been agreed in principal, but Arsenal chiefs are due to hold further talks with Sanchez and his representatives within the next 48 hours where they will look to seal an official agreement.

If all goes to plan, the transfer is expected to be wrapped up next week, although Barca won’t sanction the Sanchez sale until they’ve sealed a deal for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

It would be a sensational coup if the Gunners are able to pull it off and he’d be a valuable asset to their attack next season. Sanchez proved his threat with 21 goals and 15 assists for Barcelona last year and as he’d be able to play out wide and through the middle, he’d provide Wenger with plenty of options in the final third.

It remains to be seen whether the likes of Liverpool or United will make a late push to try and hijack the deal, but as of now, Arsenal are firmly in the driving seat and Gunners fans will be excited by the prospect of Sanchez heading to north London this summer.
