Arsenal To Announce Third Signing Next Week After Agreeing Terms Over 4-Year Deal

Arsenal have agreed terms with David Ospina over a four-year deal but will have to wait until next week to complete the signing as he’s away on holiday.

The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us the latest on David Ospina.

Arsenal have agreed terms with David Ospina over a four-year deal but will have to wait until next week to complete the signing as the goalkeeper is currently away on holiday, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has been on the look out for another keeper to offer competition to Wojciech Szczesny after Lukasz Fabianski joined Swansea on a free transfer last month and we’ve been linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks.

Ospina emerged as a the bosses main target and widespread reports claim we’ve agreed a fee with his current club Nice believed to be worth around £3.5m including potential add ons.

Goal claim that Arsenal have now also agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old over a four-year deal worth £60,000-a-week and were hoping he would undertake his medical this week before flying over to America to link-up with the rest of the squad on Friday ahead of our friendly with New York Red Bulls.

However, it looks like we’ll be forced to wait to officially wrap up the deal as the report states that the keeper has chosen to remain on holiday and will therefore complete his move to north London early next week.

Ospina has just come off the back of an excellent World Cup where he was hugely impressive for Colombia and although he’s expected to start the season as Szczesny’s back-up, he’s got all the attributes to really push the Polish international for the first team jersey.

He has plenty of experience at both club and international level, and as he’s just entered the final year of his current deal, Nice have been forced to sell him on the cheap to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months time, so we’ve got ourselves a bit of a bargain.

Obviously it would have been ideal to get him in as soon as possible but it’s only a matter of  a few days and we should be able to announce our third signing of the summer next week with Ospina joining Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy in making the move to the Emirates.
