Liverpool and Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Wilfried Bony with Swansea City admitting they will sell the £20m-rated hitman if the right offer comes in, according to Sky Sports.

Bony enjoyed an excellent debut season in England following his move from Vitesse Arnham last summer, with the Ivory Coast international scoring 25 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Swans.

This impressive form led to interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with Liverpool and Tottenham among the clubs understood to be keeping a close eye on the strikers situation.

Reports have resurfaced this week linking Bony with a move to Anfield with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers on the look-out for another striker after pulling out of a deal to sign Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers.

Swansea boss Gary Monk has previously insisted that the Ivorian is not for sale this summer, but now chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted that they may be forced to cash in if a big club comes knocking with an offer they can’t refuse.

“Wilfried Bony is a fantastic professional,”

“If a top Champions League club comes in, and puts the right offer on the table, then of course we will speak to him.

“There are no issues with Bony. He’s a great guy to have around the club.

“As much as we want players to stay with us for a number of years, we have to be open.” Jenkins is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

While Jenkins doesn’t state what Swansea’s valuation for Bony is, previous reports in the newspapers have indicated that it would take £20m to persuade the Welsh outfit to sell, but it remains to be seen whether either Liverpool or Spurs will be willing to meet that figure.

The fact that Jenkins mentions a Champions League club will no doubt have alerted the Merseysiders, but I’m sure both Swansea and Bony would also listen to offers from the likes of Tottenham – who have Europa League football to offer.

Some Liverpool fans may have been expecting a ‘marquee’ name to replace Luis Suarez after he was sold to Barcelona, but there aren’t many players about who could fill the Uruguayans boots and Bony proved last season that he can score goals in the Premier League, so he could be a shrewd purchase if the Reds are able to lure him to Anfield.
