Monaco’s Radamel Falcao is open to the idea of joining Arsenal in a season-long loan deal that would cost the Gunners around £20m, according to the Telegraph.

The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Radamel Falcao is open to joining Arsenal on loan.

Colombia Radamel Falcao

Monaco hitman Radamel Falcao is open to the idea of joining Arsenal on a season-long loan deal that would cost the Gunners around £20m, according to the Telegraph.

Our need to bring in another striker deepened with the news that Olivier Giroud is facing at least three months on the sidelines with a broken ankle and it looks like Arsene Wenger is going to have to now make a late dash into the transfer market.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Loic Remy and Danny Welbeck were linked on Tuesday but the Telegraph claim that the boss is now targetting Monaco striker Radamel Falcao as a potential target.

The newspaper suggests that the 28-year-old would be open to moving to the Emirates Stadium on a season-long loan, but it would cost us somewhere in the region of £20m – which would cover a loan fee as well as the strikers wages.

No formal move for any striker is expected to be made until Giroud sees a specialist on Wednesday, but the initial signs aren’t good and it’s almost certain the French international will now be out for the foreseeable future leaving us short up front.

Falcao would be an excellent signing and if this report is accurate, then we should jump at the chance of signing him. The Colombian international is one of the deadliest strikers in the world and would give us a genuine goal threat in attack, and watching him link up with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez is a mouthwatering prospect.

However, £20m is a lot to pay for just a year loan and unfortunately I can’t see Wenger agreeing to pay that kind of money. We’ve got a season-defining few days ahead and hopefully the boss will make some moves in the transfer market once we beat Besiktas tonight.
