Arsenal To Holds Formal Talks With Agent As Wenger Eyes Move For Deadly Striker

Arsenal are due to hold talks with the agent of Radamel Falcao and AS Monaco about a potential loan deal for the Colombian striker, according to reports.

The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are due to hold talks with the agent of Radamel Falcao.

Colombia Radamel Falcao

Arsenal are due to hold talks with the agent of Radamel Falcao and AS Monaco about a potential loan deal for the Colombian international striker, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger is under pressure to bring in a top class front-man after Olivier Giroud was ruled out for four months with a broken tibia and a whole host of names have been linked in the media over the past few days.

The latest player to be touted as a potential target is Falcao with reports on Wednesday claiming that Wenger has short-listed the former Porto hitman, and the 28-year-old is understood to be open to the idea of making a short-term move to North London.

It seems we’ve now stepped up our interest as the Metro are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal are set to hold formal talks with the strikers agent, Jorge Mendes, and representatives from Monaco about a potential switch to the Emirates.

The newspaper suggests that a season-long loan is on the table, but it’s likely to cost us £20m as Monaco want a £12m loan fee while the strikers wages will be in the region of £8m, so it’s not going to be a cheap option for us.

Monaco are believed to have made Falcao available for loan as they want to get his high wages off the books due to cost-cutting measures put in place by the owners, but understandably we’re not the only club showing an interest.

The Metro claim that Real Madrid and Juventus are also due to hold talks about a move, so we’re going to have to fight off some serious competition if we want to lure the Colombian to the Premier League.

I personally can’t see Wenger agreeing to pay around £20m just to loan a player for a season, but I’d be pleasantly surprised if he proved me wrong as Falcao would be a sensational purchase. His goal-scoring record is superb wherever he’s played and he’s proven himself to be one of the deadliest hitmen in Europe.

Having him spearhead an attack along with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla is a mouthwatering prospect and we’d finally have a world class striker in the squad. However, I’m not getting my hopes up as I still think it’s highly unlikely we’ll pull this off.
