Manchester United look set to miss out on Arturo Vidal after Juventus rejected a €38m (£30m) bid for the Chilean international midfielder, according to reports.
United have been strongly linked with Vidal all summer with reports previously claiming that the Red Devils had been deep in negotiations with Juventus over a possible deal for the 27-year-old, but had so far baulked at the Italians €43m (£37m) valuation.
However, after weeks of speculation, the Daily Mail claim United finally tabled a formal bid worth €38m (£30m) on Friday afternoon but it was swiftly rejected by Juve as they felt it didn’t leave them enough time to find a replacement.
The newspaper states that the Serie A champions had previously informed United that any deal had to be concluded by August 15th to give them adequate time to source a replacement, so it seems they have stuck to their guns and spurned the Premier League giants late attempts to lure to Chilean to Old Trafford.
If true, it will come as a major blow to Louis van Gaal as the Dutchman had earmarked Vidal as the midfield powerhouse to compliment the array of attacking talent he’s got at his disposal.
United are on the verge of sealing a sensational season long loan deal for Radamel Falcao and he quickly follows Angel Di Maria in making the move to Old Trafford after the Argentinean joined from Real Madrid last week.

With defensive talents like Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind also brought in this summer, all that was missing was a dominant midfielder to offer United with some physicality in the middle of the park and Vidal would have been the ideal addition, but it looks like van Gaal is going to have to look elsewhere as Juventus insist the player won’t be sold this late in the window.
