By on September 16, 2014

Champions League football returns to Anfield this evening when Liverpool entertain Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets in their Group B opener.

Brendan Rodgers is once again without striker Daniel Sturridge as he continues to nurse a thigh injury so Mario Balotelli makes his Champions League debut for the club as he continues up front.

Raheem Sterling is recalled in attack in place of the suspended Lazar Markovic while Adam Lallana makes his European debut. Martin Skrtel remains out with a knee injury so Mamadou Sakho continues alongside Dejan Lovren at the back.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

Mignolet; Manquillo, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno; Henderson, Gerrard; Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana; Balotelli

Subs: Jones, Enrique, Toure, Lucas, Suso, Borini, Lambert

Borjan, Alek, Minev, Moti, Junior Caicara, Anicet Abel, Dyakov, Marcelinho, Aleksan, Bezjak y Misidjan

What do you think the score will be now we’ve seen the teams?

square pegs in round holes again for pool…we need to revert back to 2 forwards upfront instead of 1…the attacking midfield is not linking up well with the forward line…no regular one-twos this season upfront to break down stubborn defences…coutinho is suffering due to lack of options upfront for his killer passes…BR has to rethink his strategy…
