Arsenal Injury Update: Latest On Ramsey, Koscielny, Welbeck + More
Here is an extensive Arsenal injury update with the latest on the fitness of Danny Welbeck, Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal will look to get back to winning ways when they entertain Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, the Telegraph have offered an injury update with the latest on the fitness of Danny Welbeck, Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey.
Welbeck was forced off late on during England’s 1-0 win over Estonia on Monday night after twisting his ankle and there were fears he could be set to join our ever-growing injury list.
However, the Telegraph claim the striker was back at London Colney today and after being assessed by Arsenal’s medical team, we’re confident the 23-year-old has suffered no serious injury.
Welbeck is expected to join fellow England international’s Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs in returning to training on Wednesday and will be in contention to face Hull on Saturday.
There is also positive news on the fitness of Laurent Koscielny as the newspaper suggests that despite being sent home from international duty with France due to acute tendonitis, the centre-back is also expected to recover in time to face the Tigers this weekend.
It’s a huge boost to have Koscielny available as with Calum Chambers suspended and Mathieu Debuchy injured, we’d be extremely low on options at the back if he was ruled out.
Mikel Arteta could also be back in contention after missing the last three weeks with a calf injury. The Spaniard is due back in training later this week and will face a late fitness test, but I’d expect the best we can hope for is a place among the subs against Hull before potentially starting against Anderlecht next Wednesday.
The final update from the Telegraph states that Aaron Ramsey will return to training early next week after also missing the last three weeks with a hamstring injury that he picked up against Tottenham.
There was speculation the Welshman could be out for significantly longer so it’s a big boost to have him on the verge of a comeback and he should be available again to face Sunderland on the 25th.
As we reported earlier, Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry returned to training this morning so the main players out for the long-term are Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud.
