Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given a positive update on the fitness of Jack Wilshere after refusing to rule the midfielder out of Tuesday’s game against Anderlecht.

Wilshere missed last weekend’s 2-0 win at Sunderland due to suspension and was expected to return to the side for yesterday’s clash with Burnley.

But he missed the game at the Emirates after picking up a minor knee injury in training and Wenger said at his press conference on Friday that the 22-year-old was also likely to miss Tuesday’s Champions League match with Anderlecht.

However, speaking to Arsenal.com after our 3-0 win yesterday, Wenger revealed that Wilshere may return to training today and suggested he could be in contention to face the Belgian’s if he comes through without any problems.

Wenger told the clubs website:

on Jack Wilshere…

He has not practiced yet. Will he be available? We’ll see. I think he will try tomorrow, Monday latest.

With Aaron Ramsey yet to find full match fitness after his own injury lay-off, Wilshere’s return would be a boost as we don’t look balanced with Mathieu Flamini alongside Mikel Arteta in midfield.

Jack was enjoying some good early-season form so hopefully he can come through training without any set-backs and be available to take on Anderlecht at the Emirates on Tuesday night where victory could see us seal qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
